Ontario Works is a provincially and municipally funded program which helps social assistance participants find the shortest route to employment. Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington Social Services encourages the local private, public, and non-profit sectors to work in partnership in order to provide employment, financial and social support to these residents of Prince Edward and Lennox & Addington counties.
Ontario Works provides temporary financial and employment assistance to Ontario residents in need (in accordance with the Ontario Works Act and regulations). Ontario Works is a new approach intended to promote the dignity and self-esteem of those participating by helping find their "shortest route to employment". Ontario Works is comprised of two main parts.
Financial assistance provides funds for eligible individuals to help meet basic living, shelter, and employment costs. Learn more about the aspects of Ontario Works assistance, and how to apply.
Employment assistance provides supports, services, and activities that assist participants to obtain employment and achieve increased self-sufficiency. We all know how difficult it can be to obtain a job without the necessary skills, recent experience, or supports. It can be tough. We are here to offer practical help to participants to access resources to develop resumes, assist with job searches, upgrade education, gain job specific skills, and gain work experience through community and employment placements.
