Employment Placement

What is Employment Placement?

Employment Placement is an innovative, free of charge program designed to assist employers to meet their hiring needs and to support job ready participants to find and maintain paid employment.  Supports may include interview preparation, linkage to employers, child care support, and financial incentives such as WSIB Indemnity for the first six months, for employers who are offering full-time employment of 32 hours per week.

What happens if I am accepted into the Employment Placement Program?

If accepted into the Employment Placement Program, you will be expected to:

Contact the program staff regularly for job leads

Work with us to properly prepare for interviews

bullet

Follow-up on referrals to employment

bullet

Inform program staff of any outcome from referrals to job opportunities

Accept any reasonable offers of employment

What can my employer expect from the program?

The Employment Placement Program is a free of charge service designed to assist employers with their hiring needs by offering:

Free confidential listings of your job vacancies

bullet

Assurance that you will see only qualified applicants who match the job specified job requirements

Human Resources Support

bullet

Financial incentives to offset training and hiring costs of “New Employees”

bullet

WSIB Indemnity for the first six (6) months

The decision is the employer’s. They select the candidates that best meet their needs. There is no obligation.

Placement incentives of WSIB coverage for the first six months and monetary incentives for both formal and informal training will be determined when an Employer agrees to hire a participant for a minimum of 32 hours per week for a period of six months and the participant is placed on the Employer’s payroll.

Can I get assistance with Self-Employment?

Ontario Works can provide income support for a period of time for people who are developing their own business or are pursuing self-employment. If accepted into self-employment you will be referred to an agency which specializes in helping people to develop a business plan and to establish and maintain a business. Your business plan must have a realistic expectation of success for continued qualification in the self-employment program.
