Earnings Exemptions are designed to encourage and assist participants towards independence by providing financial incentives to earn income through employment. Earnings exemptions are available after a participant has been in receipt of Social Assistance for three consecutive months and applies only to earned income. During the first three months in receipt of assistance, all income will be deducted dollar for dollar. After three consecutive months, 50% of net employment earnings can be kept. Self Employed Participants are not eligible for Earnings Exemptions. Speak with a caseworker for more detail.
